Position description: 

The Walk to Music Volunteer will assist a music and recreation therapist to facilitate a mobility maintenance program that incorporates music. The goal of this program is to enable our senior residents to maintain or improve their current level of physical function and mobility.
This program runs on Fridays from 12:30 - 2.
This is a good opportunity for students interested in rehabilitative sciences. The ideal volunteer is comfortable working in close physical proximity with senior residents.

Deliverables/Duties: 

Provide physical and emotional support to seniors who are improving their physical ability/mobility.

Qualifications: 

Enjoys working with seniors.
Understands English.
Kind and patient.
Physically able.
Ability to work with people who have compromised memory and communication.

Additional Information: 

Orientation to the facility will be provided by the Coordinator of Volunteers.
Orientation to the position will be provided by the program leader. Improve the lives of seniors.
Experience volunteering with a Music Therapist in a complex-health care facility.
A reference letter can be provided after three months of continuous service.
Requires police records check.
