Mission Statement:

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) plays a leadership role in building a healthy and engaged neighbourhood by connecting people and strengthening their capacity to create change.

Position Description:

MPNH is recruiting volunteers to assist with our Neighbourly Together program, which is a community outreach project which strives to connect seniors with needed information and supports. Trained volunteers are the bridge to help isolated seniors in our community develop a sense of belonging. Telephone outreach volunteers will be given a list of seniors that we have connected with previously and will be asked to connect with them using MPNH's phone. The purpose of the phone call will be to check on their health status and to invite them to join our Seniors Lunch. 3 month commitment required. 



Activites will include:

- Calling seniors

- Writing comments about the seniors

- Inviting the senior to our Seniors Lunch (and possibly other senior-orientated events), if yes then which date

- Reporting findings to supervisor


All new volunteers at MPNH are required to:

- Submit a Volunteer Application form

- Meet with the Volunteer Programmer for an interview

- Complete a Criminal Record Check (done at no cost to the volunteer)

- Complete our online orientation

- Provide two non-familial references 


Telephone Outreach Volunteers should be:

- Friendly, patient and emphatic

- Organized and able to work with minimal supervision

- Clear articulate voice

- Available Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday during office hours

- Able to commit to 3 months 

- Additional languages is a plus
