Soil Sale: Spring 2020

Position description: 

The VanDusen Garden Soil Sales provide much-needed funds for the Garden activities and bring hundreds of garden enthusiasts out to pick up soil, compost, and manure for their gardens. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved at VanDusen Gardens, meet new people and spend some time outdoors!

Requirements:

Positive energy, friendly, and loves to smile
Enjoys being outdoors
Enjoys talking to a variety of people from different backgrounds
Task-focused
Most roles will require the physical ability such as standing for long periods of time, shoveling soil, carrying large bags of soil to cars or collapsing tables.

Volunteers duties for the following days include:

February 29th  - We will be bagging compost which will require standing for long periods of time and shovel compost into bags in preparation for the sale.

 

March 5th, 6th, and 7th are the pre-sale day and sale day. Duties include: directing traffic, loading large bags of soil into cars for customers (heavy lifting), handling cash, and customer service. 

 

March 9th is clean up and will involve moving remaining bags or soil, collapsible chairs, and tables. This role will require heaving lifting, so those keen on working their muscles are encouraged to sign up.
