Position description: 

The Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society, a small non-profit organization dedicated to helping local and immigrant families, is seeking event volunteers for the Savour Our Neighbourhood event on March 7, 2019.

SON 2019 will be 6th annual fundraising event. Enjoy a selection of local beer and wine, fantastic music, auctions, draws and more – with live entertainment by comedian Charlie Demers, a Vancouver local nominated for a 2018 Juno for his album Fatherland. 

This year, we are featuring the Society’s vital work with refugee and immigrant families. We are thrilled that Savour our Neighbourhood 2019 will be catered by Tayybeh, an award-winning local food company and social enterprise that supports newly arrived Syrian women.

We hope you’ll join us for this exciting celebration of food, drink and community!

Deliverables/Duties: 

-Work cohesively with Volunteer Manager and staff during event
-Good work ethic
-Arrive promptly on time
-Position Types: Kitchen and Security Managers, Bussers, Servers, Kitchen Helpers, Security, Greeters, Photographer and General Helpers              

Qualifications: 

-Excellent customer service
-Strong communication skills in English required
-Energetic personality with exceptional ability to multitask
-Experience working with a diverse population and understanding of cultural issues an asset
-Experience working in the non-profit sector and working with other volunteers is an asset

Additional Information: 

- Volunteers are willing to work cooperatively with Volunteer Leads and Committee

- Volunteers must be 19 years old or over

- Position Start/End Date: Day of volunteers expected to attend Volunter Orientation night (March 4) and Event Day (March 7).
