RILS Board Secretary
Two-year term, with the possibility of a renewal of another two years (pending Board approval). Willingness to devote an average of 10 hours per month above and beyond Board meetings.
Role of Secretary:
The volunteer executive director role of secretary is a position that supports RILS in taking minutes of meetings and keeping records in accordance with the BC Societies Act.
This Board executive position is fully informed on organizational matters, and participates in the Board’s deliberations and decisions in matters of policy, finance, risk and programs. Working with all members of the executive and Board to ensure the Board executes its governance, stewardship and fiduciary responsibilities. He/she serves in a volunteer capacity without remuneration. This role is required to join the Board meetings, which take place 6 times per year, plus the Annual General Meeting.
The secretary is responsible for doing, or making the necessary arrangements for, the following:
Taking minutes of general meetings and directors’ meetings.
Keeping records of the Society in accordance with the Act, including ensuring signed copies of meeting minutes are provided to the Executive Director for filing.
Conducting the correspondence of the Board if required.
Assist the Board of Directors with volunteer activities, obligations and regulatory requirements.
