Position description:

The DTES Neighbourhood House is looking for volunteers to join the Banana Beat and the Mobile Smoothie Project, part of our Nutritional Outreach program. The team visits a number of partner organizations in the DTES on the third or fourth Tuesday and Wednesday of each month (before income assistant cheques are distributed) and shares nutrition in the form of potassium and other nutrients (through various fruit, bananas and soy milk) to our neighbours.

The Banana Beat and Mobile Smoothie programs remain to be our most cherished vehicles for grassroots community consultation and development. Because nutritious food can be harder to access at that time of the month, the Banana Beat and Mobile Smoothie Team seeks to go into the community to ease this need and affirm the inherent deservedness of all to nutritious food.

Banana Beat takes place on Wednesdays mornings. Volunteer are assigned shifts either from 7:45 am to 9:00am or from 8:00am to 10:30am. The next Banana Beat is on January 23rd, 2019 and February 20th, 2019.

Mobile Smoothie Project takes places on Tuesday, throughout the day. Volunteers are assigned shifts between 9:30am and 3:30pm (eg. 9:30am - 12pm ; 1pm - 3:30pm). The next Mobile Smoothie is on January 22nd, 2019 and February 19th, 2019.
