The Intake Volunteer will greet new clients, and assist with the coordination of emergency services. In this role, you will be the first contact for all refugee claimants arriving in our office. You will be responsible for creatively tackling the immediate housing needs of all refugee claimants arriving in Vancouver. Although this is not an easy task, it is one of the most important roles in our organization.
4.5 - 7.5 hour shifts are available Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Fill out intake form with client
Conduct needs assessment
Refer all new clients to orientation volunteer after intake is complete
Search for emergency housing through an internal housing network
Secure emergency needs for client (housing, etc.)
Input information into database
General office duties as required
Consent to a Criminal Record Check
Office Skills (Phone use, etc.)
Computer skills (Typing, Microsoft Office, Internet Research, Data Entry)
Knowledge of English
Experience in social services
Experience working with newcomers
Experience immigrating to Canada as a refugee claimant
Knowledge of a Secondary Language (Arabic, Farsi, Dari, French, Kurdish, etc.)
