Position description:
General board member who is willing to participate in specific committees and task forces such as:
- Fundraising
- Membership and marketing
- Corporate sponsorships
- Finance
- Nominating
Works with a diverse board of directors in a vibrant theatrical environment. There is opportunity to shape the strategic direction of Western Gold Theatre Society and make a contribution to the theatre community. Also assists in building strong communication and leadership skills.
Deliverables/Duties:
- Work together with other board members
- Monitor financial assets
- Assist in building a strong and successful theatre company
- Must adhere to conflict of interest guidelines
Qualifications:
Specific Skill sets desired should include some of the following:
- Familiarity with the operating concepts of a not-for-profit society and registered charity
- Familiarity with the duties and responsibilities of a Board Member
- Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel and access to a computer
- Experience working collaboratively with others in a team oriented hands-on environment including boards and committee
Experience in any of the following areas:
- Board Governance
- The theatre community
- Grant application writing
- Marketing
- Fundraising
- Public relations
- Communications and social media
- Finance
- Legal
- Human resources
- Strategic planning

Additional Information:
- Board member terms are either one or two years commencing March, 2021.
- Board meetings are held once a month between 7:00 and 9:00 pm
- Committee and task force meetings are held as required
- Attendance at special events encouraged
