Position description:

Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver is a registered charity and community-based organization that has been operating in the Lower Mainland since 1957. We offer friendship-based mentoring programs for boys and girls and provide volunteer opportunities for men and women.

What is GAME ON!
Developed for male adolescents, Game On! uses a mentor approach to provide boys and young men with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices.

This program is designed to provide mentors an opportunity to openly discuss current and pressing issues facing boys and young men through the lens of healthy living. This is a 75 minute a week, 7 week group program. It includes seven 75 minutes core sessions. There are also four extensive modules that capture potential issues and topics specific to various locales and the interest of mentors and program participants. Each session is loosely structured around four themes: Physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem and communication skills.

As a volunteer, you will mentor approximately 10 boys with other Volunteer(s) while being supported by a staff member at the school, community centre or Boys and Girls Club.

We are looking for young men who are enthusiastic about healthy, active living and are specially selected and trained to deliver the program. This program is ideal for male students who are looking to gain valuable volunteer experiences.

We offer the program all over our Greater Vancouver service areas such as Vancouver, Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, Surrey, North Shore, and Squamish.
