Volunteer with Face of Today (FOT) - A Positive Contribution to Community
AT FOT, we are committed to shifting perceptions surrounding mental health through collective awareness, programs and community experiences. We empower vulnerable youth through mentorship, integrative programming and community engagement to support mental wellbeing in Metro Vancouver.
In May of 2019, FOT opened its doors to provide new youth-centred initiatives. At the heart of this program are FOT Volunteers who nurture positive and impactful change for youth who might not otherwise get the support they need for their mental health. FOT Volunteers help youth in FOT’s programs discover and follow their aspirations and dreams.
Volunteering with FOT not only supports vulnerable youth in our communities, it also supports volunteers by improving their own health and wellness while also expanding their experiences, skills and community networking opportunities.
A new volunteer opportunity is now open for a member of our FOT 'Dream Team' as a founding volunteer for one of our program pillars: CREATE.
Face of Today is establishing a team of Founding Volunteers who collaborate with FOT’s Visionary Team to build our benchmark resource center’s services and programming. Dream Team members are passionate about their respective fields, providing professional leadership and resources within FOT’s program pillars:

We are now seeking a Dream Team member our CREATE Pillar. Here is a description of the position:
Ambassador and Volunteer support (30%)
Recruiting and work with founding volunteers and volunteers (visual artists & art therapists involved in programming, operations and events, assists in training, co-preparing duties and timelines, and tracking volunteer commitments and engagement with the centre’s program via our Salesforce CRM database.
Lead and prepare for monthly volunteer meetings related to in-house arts programming and future outreach/ community programming.
Coordinate logistics for weekly programming including art materials, and community partners to support full participation from youth in the FOT resource centre.
Support CREATE volunteers in working towards the objectives of the centre’s mandate and programming.
Community Project development and implementation (40%)
Assist in preparation, planning and implementation of FOT's community art projects with foundation partners
Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing community partners
Liaise with local community partners and set meetings
Work together with FOTs Visionary Team and FOT volunteers to plan, prepare and manage the art-focused community projects for the centre
Centre Coordination (10%)
Assist in creating arts-focused break out space that is welcoming and accommodating to both volunteers and youth participants (both art media storage, and break out workshop/art class and art therapy sessions
Manage program scheduling, record files, record systems, art supplies and inventory stocks via Salesforce.
Budget Coordination (20%)
Manage budget for art programming and art-focused community projects
Manage budgets for art supplies on a bi-weekly basis
Submit all budget projection and art programming receipts for foundation review and accounting

Strong knowledge of visual arts community in the Lower Mainland and awareness of community engagment methods
Experience with project management, volunteer coordination or human resource management
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Respectful of youth’s varying needs and lived experiences
Remains calm under pressure and able to quickly solve a problem when it arises
Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport
Excellent written and oral English skills.
Effective communication skills including verbal and written skills
Excellent knowledge of computer and spreadsheet/word processing software including Microsoft Office Suite
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
A wide degree of creativity and latitude
