Cinema Classics Film Host (Tuesdays)

You are here

Position description:

Share your love of Classic Cinema with seniors at Barclay Manor!

The West End Seniors’ Network (WESN) is looking for a volunteer to host our Cinema Classics Film program, every Tuesday, starting at 1pm for the duration of the movie (usually until 3:30 or 4:30pm). This is a rewarding and fun volunteer role, especially if you have an interest in film.

The host will plan the movies a few weeks in advance; ensure that the movies are in compliance with our license provider; and reserve, pick up and drop off copies of the DVD, usually from the Vancouver Public Library nearby (or branch convenient for you).

The Cinema Classics host sets up the room (moves chairs and small tables), make microwave popcorn, researches and shares fun trivia facts, and introduces the movie to the audience (5- 15 members usually). If time permits, you might lead a short discussion about the film afterwards.

This volunteer role will suit someone who loves classic cinema, and is reliable, patient and organized. A longer term weekly commitment is preferred. We would like someone to start as soon as possible, but are flexible on the actual date.
