Child Care Assistant at the Food Bank
New Westminster Family Place is a family resource program for families with children 0 - 5 years old. Many families are new to parenting, new to the City or new to the country. The reality of parenting can be overwhelming especially with no extended family to help. Here they meet each other to share the joys and challenges of parenting along with information and support from the staff. We help parents to provide a good start for their children by promoting, encouraging and providing family related services and learning skills program with a preventative and educational focus. The playroom volunteer provides extra hands and help for the children while parents collect their groceries or meet with staff to learn about other resources. The children learn to trust other adults and parents learn different ways of interacting with their children.
