Directors have the privilege of representing the best interests of their community by monitoring and guiding the Marpole Oakridge Family Place toward our vision and mission.
What does a Director do?
_ The mission, goals and programs of MOFP;
_ The issues related to the mission of MOFP;
_ The financial matters of MOFP, and
_ Conflict of interest.
Directors participate by:
_ Attending Board meetings;
_ Preparing in advance to make educated decisions;
_ Asking questions;
_ Representing the community to MOFP and acting as an ambassador of MOFP
to the community;
_ Serving on a committee when asked, and
_ Participating in MOFP special events.
What is the time commitment?
The Board meets the third Monday evening of every month currently through Zoom. Some work is required between meetings. Committee meetings and special events will add to the time commitment.
What qualifications does a Director need to have?
We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about our community and able to work in a team. To be elected as a director, individuals must be a member in good standing of the MOFP. All our directors
complete a Criminal Record Check upon election and a Vulnerable Sector Search.
How does a Director learn their job?
Orientation to the Marpole Oakridge Family Place is provided through a Board Handbook and an orientation session
Directors have the support of the Chair of the Board, other members of the Board, and the Executive Director.
