Position description:

Mom2Mom Child Poverty Initiative Society was founded in 2012 to support women parenting below the poverty line to build resiliency and keep their families intact. Together with our team of donors and volunteers, Mom2Mom connects women to others who can offer support, advice, resources and practical strategies to help alleviate poverty-related stress.  Motherhood can be challenging under any circumstance. The struggles faced by women raising children below the poverty line in a city like Vancouver – with the soaring cost of housing, food, childcare and transportation – make it really tough. Further, women who parent below the poverty line in Canada and in BC are disproportionately Indigenous and people of colour and that disparity is reflected in the cultural background of Mom2Mom participants. Mom2Mom strives to increase the social, emotional, and financial resources of program participants so that their poverty-related stress decreases, which has a tremendously positive impact on family life.

With a vision for the future where moms are connected to a community of caring, Mom2Mom is focused on developing a policy governance board and on developing long-term financial sustainability that will carry the organization into the future.
