Auction Committee Member - 2020 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards

Position description: 

YWCA Metro Vancouver’s Women of Distinction Awards recognizes outstanding women and workplaces that contribute to the well-being of our communities. The Awards are planned and executed by year-round committees who help ensure the overall success of the event. As a key member of the Auction Committee, you will work with a dynamic team of volunteers to enlist the generous support of Silent Auction and Live Auction donors, as well as assist with the day-of-event activities.
The term of office is one year. The YWCA Metro Vancouver will provide full administrative support to the role.



  • Directly contact or connect the Awards with professional and/or personal contacts whose companies could support the event as a Silent Auction or Live Auction donor
  • Commit to the following individual goals:           
    - $5,000 retail value of goods for the Silent Auction
    - Secure a minimum of 1 aspect of the Live Auction 
  • ​Keep shared google spreadsheet up to date and as accurate as possible with individual asks
  • Attend each committee meeting (in person or via teleconference) to provide updates, plan and track progress
  • Event Day(s):
    - Announcing the Nominees’ Celebration (March 4, 2020): Captain of an area 
    - Women of Distinction Awards (TBD): Lead Volunteer
  • As a Spokesperson: You will be recognized as an important Women of Distinction Awards Leader. Your name will be included on various Awards materials and online. Your photo may also appear in announcements related to the Women of Distinction Awards. 
  • Help to identify potential new Auction Committee members for succession planning

Time Commitment

Meetings will be held at Clio at 300 – 4611 Canada Way on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 6pm. Each meeting will be 1-1.5 hours long:

  • Monthly meetings (Starting September 18, 2019) 9-12 hours*
  • *Additional meetings may be added where necessary
  • Personal time to complete individual projects 30 hours
  • Event Day – Wednesday, March 4, 2020 4 hours
  • Event Day – TBD 6 hours
