Assistant to the Board of Directors
The Richmond Music School is the largest and oldest non-profit music school in Richmond dedicated to high standards in teaching music, in both private and class settings. It enjoys a leadership position throughout Greater Vancouver for its many student performances and innovative programs. The Richmond Music School is a registered charity and the Canadian representative of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), a music examination board based in London, UK, and is the recipient of the 2020 City of Richmond Arts Education Award.
The School is governed by the Board of Directors with 6 volunteer members. The Board oversees the operation of the school and is responsible for its policies and directions. The School Principal, as appointed by the Board of Directors, manages the day-to-day activities of the school and implements the strategic initiatives set out by the Board.
The Richmond Music School is currently seeking for a passionate individual to provide secretarial support to the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration and logistics of the Board of Directors activities. Responsibilities in support of the board include, but are not limited to, confidential administrative support to the Board Chair, Board Directors, and members of Board Committees. This involves preparing and maintaining agendas, pre-meeting materials, and minutes for monthly Board and Committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting, maintaining Board records and governing documents, handling Board communications, and with other tasks as assigned.
Please note this is NOT a Board position.
Due to COVID-19, the Board meets every third Thursday at 7:30 pm of each month through Zoom tele-conference for about 1.5-2 hours. The ideal candidate is expected to attend all board meetings. We will return to in-person board meeting when situation permits.
Expected time commitment is about 8-12 hours per month, but may vary according to the school events or other on-going initiatives.
We welcome candidates with experience in the following areas:
- Executive Assistant
- Clerical or Secretarial Support
- Minute Taking
- Project Management
