Background

This is your opportunity to join a dynamic team at an organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of health care for people from across BC. The Foundation is seeking a self-motivated, energetic volunteer to work in a fundraising setting alongside our dedicated staff,where every team member plays a critical role.

The Annual Giving team is responsible for Annual, Monthly, Tribute, and Online Giving fundraising activities in support of VGH, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, and Vancouver Community Services. The Annual Giving program is an important source of reliable, undesignated income for the Foundation, raising in excess of $3.3 Million a year through personal solicitation, direct marketing, e-mail, telephone, and online giving.

Position Summary

The Annual Giving Volunteer is responsible for providing support to the team and assisting with a variety of tasks and projects that support the fundraising goals of the Annual Giving program.

Deliverables/Duties: 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing correspondence for the Tribute program
  • Assist with preparing anniversary/welcome card program mailings
  • Sort and enter data received through survey correspondence
  • Prepare materials for events
  • Follow up with event wrap-up and post-event data entry
  • Prepare Grateful Patient Packages
  • Opportunities to help out with campaigns, including the annual Angel Campaign
Qualifications: 

Education & Experience

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Computer skills: competent in the standard suite of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to follow specific instructions
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative

Training & Support

  • On the job orientation
  • On-going support and supervision from assigned Supervisor
  • Evaluations, exit interviews and letter of reference are available upon volunteer’s request

Other Requirements

  • Sign and adhere to the confidentiality agreement
  • Able and willing to travel between hospital sites (shuttle service is available)
