Position description: 

The School Grandparent Program (SGP) provides volunteers over the age of 50 years old for assignments in elementary schools throughout Burnaby. Beyond fostering intergenerational communication and cooperation the program provides significant benefits to educators.

Volunteer Grandparents' mission is to bridge and enrich the generations.

Deliverables/Duties: 

Volunteers can participate in a variety of activities: listening, reading, arts, crafts, and special events at the discretion of the individual educator or school.
Help provide encouragement to school aged children in the classroom setting.

Qualifications: 

Patience, kindness, good listening and reading skills.

Role is suitable for: 
Senior
Additional Information: 

Our volunteers are invited to a summer appreciation picnic and receive recognition, support and feedback throughout their placement.

Volunteers must complete our screening process and submit a criminal record check and references.
