Royal Columbian Hospital, Wayfinding Volunteer
The Royal Columbian Hospital is one of BC's largest and most specialized hospitals. Its the only hospital in the province with trauma care, cardiac care, neurosciences, high-risk obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, and mental health care all on one site. As BC's oldest hospital, and one of its busiest, it provides expert care for the most seriously ill or injured and is one of two adult trauma centres in the Lower Mainland.
Our Wayfinding Volunteers enhance our healthcare services by providing support for our patients and visitors. As a Wayfinding Volunteer your role is to greet patients and visitors and welcome them to Royal Columbian Hospital, provide directions and information to various locations within the hospital, and escort visitors to their destination when assistance is needed. Current available shifts: Monday to Friday 7 am - 10 am and 10 am to 1 pm..

Meet and greet visitors as they come into the hospital, assist in finding appointment locations, and as necessary, provide escort to clients needing wheelchair assistance to apointment destination.
Provide directions to all areas of the hospital.
Provide hospital information, such as parking.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
Good understanding and practice of setting boundaries.
Must be comfortable meeting and conversing with patients and visitors.
Ability to be assertive and a self starter.
Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time and be able to push clients in wheelchairs.
Must be able to understand and be understood in English. The ability to speak a second language is an asset.
Criminal Record Check, and Reference Checks will be required prior to commencing volunteering.
MUST BE OVER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS
Must provide proof of current measles and flu immunization (when required).

References provided after 9 months of continuous volunteer service and/or 100 volunteer hours.
