Position description: 

Since 1971, Burnaby Family Life has been offering programs and services to individuals and families in Burnaby. Over the past four decades, we’ve grown, we’ve expanded and we’ve helped thousands upon thousands of people to live a better life in a better community. Programs provided in counseling, parenting, pregnancy, English language skills, childhood literacy, childcare and licensed daycare. This position offers the help, assisting childcare staff , in a licensed childcare program to LINC (English classes).

Deliverables/Duties: 

Hours : Monday to Thur 9am to 12pm , or 12pm to 3pm days flexible
Volunteers will work together with staff taking care of children from 18 month to 5 years old in a multicultural environment while their parents take LINC ( English )program in a separate room. Our LINC childcare program is a licensed daycare for children 18m to 5y old .Volunteers will assist program staff in setting up the room with different activities, playing with children, attending to the children’s physical needs, such as playing , reading together.

Qualifications: 

Experience working with young children is an asset.
Must be comfortable around young children ( 18 month to 5 years old)
Reliable and committed
3-month commitment minimum
Volunteer interview and police criminal record check before volunteer position are required
Suitable for 19 year old and up or new immigrants with level 3 english

Additional Information: 

Tea/ Coffee, Cost of public transportation
Volunteer Appreciation certificate for the contribution
Applicants must have BC MSP (Health card)
Criminal record check and reference check before volunteer position are required
