Hospital Navigator Volunteer
St. Paul's Hospital is a very busy place. Patients and visitors sometimes enter and are overwhelmed and unsure where they should go. Hospital Navigator Volunteers help alleviate that stress by welcoming patients, directing them around the hospital and answering general questions.
- Check-in with information desk staff and other hospital navigator volunteers
- Greet, assist, direct and escort patients and visitors around the hospital
- Retrieve and push wheelchairs and staxis
- Assist with infection control compliance and awareness
- Answer questions regarding the hospital
- Assist staff in their requests
Volunteers are required to complete one 2-hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months. We have 2 open shifts and are looking for volunteers for Wednesdays 8:00am - 10:00am and Fridays 8:00am - 10:00am. Please apply at http://www.providencehealthcare.org/volunteers and join our team!
Volunteers must be:
Friendly, self-motivated and outgoing
Courteous, mature and non-judgmental
Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or in a team
Able to assist clients who have physical and/or cognitive challenges
Physically capable of assisting clients and visitors in wheelchairs and standing for 2 - 3 hours
Able to communicate well in verbal and written English
Able to follow detailed directions and procedures
Able to train new volunteers
And 18 years or older.

Volunteers receive general orientation to the hospital and area specific training by fellow Hospital Navigator Volunteers.
