Position: Relief Care Specialist (RCS) for HIA Camps!

Mission Statement: Alberta AdaptAbilities Association provides one of a kind programming that adapt every day experiences to allow children, youth, and young adults with special needs to reach their full potential. Through our goal-directed respite care programs, out of school care, teen nights and Hearts In Action camps, children can learn, grow, and succeed in a caring and developmentally appropriate setting.

Description: Volunteer for our Hearts In Action Camps, and spend your day working alongside children & youth with special needs.
Summer Break Camp Dates are:

Week 1: July 5 – 9
Week 2: July 12 – 16
Week 3: July 19 – 23
Week 4: July 26 – 30
Week 5: August 3 – 6
Week 6: August 9 – 13
Week 7: August 16 – 20
* There will be no camp on August 2, 2010 due to statutory holiday


Hours are typically 9am-3pm on any day you are available! You don't have to work the entire week, we are flexible according to your schedule!


Your duties would include:
- engaging in a variety of activities with children and youth that encourage the development of gross motor, expressive art, and essential life skills.
- supervision of children & youth during lunch times
- accompanying children & youth on field trip
Volunteers Required: 10+
Skills and Experience: - Experience working with children is an asset
Other Language Required:
Requirements: Requires criminal records check; Requires child welfare record check
Reimbursements:
Training Provided: - Shadowing employees
- Briefing on clients
- Orientation of Centre Operations
- Non-violent crisis intervention offered in the Spring
