Position: Child Care Volunteer

Mission Statement: Vision: Neighbour helping neighbour Mission: People with the least access to resources will have increased power to determine and achieve their goals In pursuit of this vision, Bissell Centre exists in order to: Meet basic daily needs met for those with least access to resources , Improve the quality of life for those with least access to resources, Give children living in poverty a chance for a brighter present and future , Increase the education and awareness of issues of poverty within the greater Edmonton community.

Description: The child care volunteer will be responsible for working with a team of child care professionals providing quality care to pre-school children (newborns -age 5) with an emphasis on their social, physical, intellectual and creative development.
Volunteers Required: 10
Skills and Experience: -Maintain a non-judgmental and supportive attitude towards the children and their families
-Demonstrate an enthusiastic, positive and flexible demeanor
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must
-Ability to work as a contributing member of a team
-Must be able to work with pre-school children and respect them as individuals with unique needs and interests

Requirements: Requires criminal records check; Requires child welfare record check
Reimbursements:
Training Provided: Orientation of the Bissell Centre as well as on the job training provided by supervisor.
