Position: Drop In Program Volunteer

Mission Statement: Vision: Neighbour helping neighbour Mission: People with the least access to resources will have increased power to determine and achieve their goals In pursuit of this vision, Bissell Centre exists in order to: Meet basic daily needs met for those with least access to resources , Improve the quality of life for those with least access to resources, Give children living in poverty a chance for a brighter present and future , Increase the education and awareness of issues of poverty within the greater Edmonton community.

Description: The volunteer will work at Bissell Centre as a resource and support person for the Drop In program during the day and assist staff when necessary. Must be at least 18 years old.

Volunteers Required: 10
Skills and Experience: -Willingness to learn about the inner city, its issues and the workings of Bissell Centre
-Demonstrate excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills
-Be a team player and accept guidance from your supervisor
-Project and maintain a non-judgmental attitude toward Bissell Centre clients. Respect the need for confidentiality
-Positive, enthusiastic and friendly attributes are definite assets

Reimbursements:
Training Provided: Volunteer will receive an orientation to the Bissell Centre as well as on the job training from program supervisor or staff.
