Description: |
We are seeking people to train to help others through their battle with cancer.
We are looking for people 1 YEAR POST LAST CANCER TREATMENT, and caregivers who provided primary care to a loved one through a cancer journey.
Provide support and information on the telephone (with an option to provide in person support) to a person affected by cancer
Responsibilities:
Responds to Coordinator's matches within 2 working days
Listens to and supports clients within boundaries set by Program
Completes records and advises Cancer Connection
Participates in Peer Support and Cancer Connection training and continuing education
Link to Mission:
Provides support and information to individuals affected by cancer
Work with:
Cancer Connection Coordinators and Support Program Coordinator
Time Commitment:
Varies considerably, but on average 3 matches per year
Term: Minimum one year

Skills and Experience: |
Has had a cancer diagnosis or primary caregiver.
Completed treatment at least one year ago.
Is emotionally able to provide support to others.
A positive, non-judgmental approach to supporting others.
Understands and accepts responsibilities of peer support.
Successfully completed peer support and Cancer Connection training within the past year.

Peer support training.
