Nursing Students Needed

Feeding Encouragement, Assistance and Safety Team
The Good Samaritan Society is looking for Volunteers to support our meal time assistance program called Loving Spoonful.  Trained volunteers will have the unique opportunity to impact patient welling through feeding assistance and gift of time and companionship at table side.

Deliverables/Duties: 

What is the Loving Spoonful Program
Poor appetite and difficulties with feeding are problems shared by many residents.  Loving Spoonful Program is an education program aimed at training volunteers in ways of providing safe and quality assistance to Good Samaritan Society residents

Qualifications: 

Nursing students or RN or LPN or Health Care Aide

Role is suitable for: 
Adult
Senior
English as a second language (ESL)
Additional Information: 

VOLUNTEER TRAINING IS COMPLETED IN TWO PHASES FOR NURSING STUDENTS

Step 1- Educational training on Feeding and Swallowing, nutrition and hydration and infection control provided by GSS.
Step 2- Supervisor Volunteers-in training feed patients. Once step 2 training is complete volunteers will independently assist residents at meal time.
