Volunteer- Food Donation Pick Up

Position description: 

The Society To End Homelessness In Burnaby operates an Outreach Resource Centre one morning a week working collaboratively with local agencies,businesses and faith communities.In preparing for the Outreach Resource Centre donated food is picked up three mornings a week and delivered to a local agency for further preparation. The Outreach Resource Centre provides food, clothing, toiletries and outreach worker assistance for Burnaby citizens who are living in extreme poverty and homelessness.The Outreach Resource Centre operates solely on donations from businesses, faith community members and concerned citizens.Volunteers who pick up the food donations greatly assist in the operation of this program.

Deliverables/Duties: 

The Volunteer would pick up the food at a local business on either Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning at 10:00 am and deliver the food donation to the Outreach office. The specific day is agreed upon in advance. Approx 2 hours per week time committment

Qualifications: 

This volunteer must be honest, reliable, able to take directions, work as a team as well as independently. It is important that the volunteer has a valid drivers license and their own dependable vehicle.

The greatest benefit of this position is knowing that your contribution assists those in genuine need. Volunteers are recognized individually and as a group. The volunteer must be 19 years of age, have a valid BC Drivers License and access to a dependable vehicle. A criminal record check is mandatory. Two references required
