Outreach Resource Centre Volunteer
The Society To End Homelessness In Burnaby operates an Outreach Resource Centre one morning a week working collaboratively with local agencies, businesses and faith communities. The Outreach Resource Centre provides food, clothing, toiletries and outreach worker assistance for Burnaby citizens who are living in extreme poverty and homelessness. The Outreach Resource Centre operates solely on donations from businesses, faith community members and concerned citizens. Volunteers are needed to assist in multiple capacities to support this program.
This Volunteer is available on Thursday mornings between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. This volunteer maybe asked to assist with: recording guest's names, serving food, distributing donated clothing, distributing toiletries, cleaning, vacuuming, unloading and reloading donations, setting up and taking down tables and chairs, or socializing with guests.
This volunteer must be reliable, a good communicator, able to take directions and work as a team with a variety of people. This volunteer must be compassionate about the needs of people living in extreme poverty.
The greatest benefit of this position is knowing that your contribution is assisting people in genuine need. This Volunteer must be at least 19 years of age. A criminal record check is mandatory, Volunteer must sign a confidentiality agreement. Two references required.
