Income Tax Clinic Supervisor
The Burnaby Neighbourhood House in partnership with Kemp Harvey Hamilton Inc. has organized a training for our volunteers who would be willing to work with us as Income Tax Clinic Supervisors during the tax season (March and April 2018) once a week for 3 hours flexible shifts. The Income Tax Clinic Supervisors will be helping and guiding the income tax volunteers to work with clients with competence and complete income tax returns without errors and transmit it to CRA through e-file procedure.
At the training sessions Volunteer Supervisors will learn:
Income Tax Clinic General Rules and Policies:
The rules around the community volunteer tax preparation program
Registering as an e-file agent.
Learn about various tax forms
When filing a tax return:
Information to gather at the start and questions to ask clients
Entering forms – what to look for
Problems you may encounter
Checking work of tax filer volunteers
Finishing and approving tax return
Trouble-shooting unsuccessful transmissions
Knowing error codes
Getting transmission confirmation
- Accounting background
- Ability to lead a group
- Excellent English Business Communication skills
- Familiar with Canadian Taxation
There will be 2 Supervisor training sessions in January 2018, as well as a general tax clinic preparation session. Volunteer applicants will be required to attend all sessions.
