Burnaby MoreSports offers no-cost sport and physical activity opportunities for children and families living in Burnaby. Burnaby MoreSports has a special focus on children that typically do not participate in sports: girls, children from diverse ethnic groups, and those who face other barriers to participation in sports such as cost. Many children lack the physical skills needed to participate in a more typical competitive sport setting. Participation is the foundation of MoreSports. It is a non-competitive organized sports program, which instills the values of inclusion, active living, and having fun.
Community capacity building, sports development and youth leadership are the key goals of the organization. Burnaby MoreSports is truly unique, and represents sustainability and inclusivity in action. Burnaby MoreSports works with partners, including local schools, neighborhood houses, recreation organizations, local government, private businesses and foundations, in the delivery of its programs and events. For the children involved in Burnaby MoreSports, the traditional barriers to sport and physical activity such as cost, transportation, available programs, space and equipment have been eliminated.
Our Vision: Every child in the city, regardless of social or economic background or special needs, will regularly participate in a sport and develop a life-long love of being active.
Our Mission: To create sustainable community sport programs in Burnaby neighborhoods so that all children and youth have an opportunity to develop life skills and a love of sport.
